Handwara, Nov 10 (KNO): The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Wednesday said that a pan Kashmir enrolment dive has been launched while there was some delay due to the pandemic which led to mental health issues among students.
Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Tasaduq Hussain Wednesday launched a pan Kashmir enrolment drive from Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
He was accompanied by CEO Kupwara, ZEO's, and other education department officials during which a rally was taken out raising awareness about enrollment in government-run educational institutions in Kashmir valley.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the event as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the Director said that a successful enrolment drive has been launched across Kashmir valley and efforts are on to make it a result-oriented drive and the team in Handwara will do its best and not let anything down.
About the lack of infrastructure, the Director said that the education department does not lag on infrastructure parameters.
"We have the highest number of infrastructure compared to the entire country. We spend more than lakh rupees on every student annually while the national average is only Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000,” he said.
Tasaduq said that the department does not lag infrastructure and resources rather the need is for a motivational drive among the teachers which has been inculcated in our teachers and they are very much enthusiastic about the drive.
About the loss due to the Covid pandemic, he said that there was a delay and everyone was very demotivated even though there were some reports about the mental health issues among students.
"This full-fledged drive has been launched across the Kashmir valley and the department will not back down this time,” he said.
He also directed the CEO Kupwara to commence the work on pending buildings on a priority basis.
About the NDC certificate from private schools, the director said that "we cannot retain any student since money is not criteria for education.”—(KNO)
